Movie Masters Joker!
11.29.08 (9:35 pm)   [edit]
I promised myself I would buy no more toys. The once rare, now widely available Batman figure changed that. I also told myself that the Movie Masters Joker would be the last I'd ever buy after, should I ever find it. I found it. I didn't get it. The horrible paint job put a dent in it's awesomeness. So large a dent that I didn't shell out the ten bucks for it. I don't know when I'll find another one, if I find another at all. But for now, I have no Joker and the hunt begins again.

Another Wall-E Header...
11.28.08 (3:53 pm)   [edit]

This time it's abstract! It's still in it's rough stages, because I don't have the time to properly smooth out the circles and stuff.

But what do you guys think?

Playstation Home Beta!
11.26.08 (6:55 pm)   [edit]

I got the code for the Beta this afternoon! I was beginning to think that Sony had forgottten me, because I downloaded the theme a few months ago and my cousin and a lot of my friends on the PSN got their betas. So.... I'll begin the download on Friday, hopefully it will have finished by the time I've seen Tropic Thunder. I set my expectations low, just so I could get impressed by Home. There are a lotta people on there now, so it'll hopefully not be as lonely.

So, if you have a Playstation Network account, and have the beta for Home, see ya inside Playstation's virtual world!

New Header!
11.25.08 (5:24 pm)   [edit]

Headgear pains are gone, homework is all finished, and Wall-E is tired of clinging to the old "broken" header.

So, I made him a new one! This time, he has something new to hang on, my Argel319 label. Laughing You can see it as my current header, but if I should change it from now to the next blog post, here it is.

As always, thanks for looking!

Rocketfish Wireless PS3 Racing Wheel Review
11.23.08 (1:43 am)   [edit]

I couldn't find any reviews to help me on Google, so I'm making one for those looking to buy it. The Rocketfish RF-GPS3009 is one of the first wireless racing wheels I've encountered, and I have been researching them for quite a long time. The wireless part is 2.4ghz is responsive enough, no lag is noticeable from my test period. The wheel rotates 270 degrees, enough for manuevering around corners and stuff, but seems pretty limited. I would have much more control over my vehicle if I had 900 degrees, like the Logitech Force Feedback series. Since it's wireless, it's powered by batteries. In this case, it's 4 AA batteries; and judging from the performance of the wheel, the batteries might be running out pretty quickly. It would have been nice if it included a power cord or something, but that kinda defeats the purpose of the "wireless" functionality.

There's a dongle connected to the Ps3 that recieves the signal of the wheel.

The 4 buttons [X, [ ], O and /\]  are placed directly on the wheel, the X and the O on the right hand side and the [] and the /\ on the left. It's kind of awkward to use them having been accustomed to the buttons on the traditional controller. The rest of the controller's buttons are on this panel on the left hand side. Think of it as a control panel of the wheel if you want. The D-pad is also located at that "control panel". There's a gearshift on the right hand side. Pulling it towards you is the same as R2, pushing away from you in like L2 and pulling to the branch is R3.

The pedals are... Functional. A bit on the light side, but they get the job done. Since this isn't a Force Feedback wheel, you don't feel anything opposing the force of your foot, so you go fast without even knowing it. They weigh probably less than 1.5 pounds. Drifting is one of the most fun experiences of the wheel. A tap of the reverse button while pressing the accelerate button makes you drift and it's just fun, like drifting in real life. I don't condone that, however, and don't do it myself. Innocent

The "control panel" works well enough, but some of the keys feel stuck, giving the wheel kind of a cheap feel. The wheel itself is looking like it's made of rubber, not the leather of the more expensive Logitech models. The whole device is held on to whatever surface you want by a lot of suction cups. Effective, but again, adding to the cheap feel. I'm sure Rocketfish has thought of those small black rubbery things that you find on the bottom of your keyboard and mouse pad to make them stick to place, but they wouldn't work as effectively. The suction cups are a pain in the arse to get off the table, you almost gotta rip the wood or glass off to get the cups off.

You have to program the functions of the pedal. You'll find out how in the instructions manual, and it's easy enough. The bad part is, you have to program it every time you use it. So everytime you turn it off, ir it goes to sleep, you have to reprogram it.

So all in all, the wheel is one of the best, but not the best. I recommend it, but there may be better options. Reprogramming it is a hassle, so keep that in mind.

Wall-E Samsung P2 Wallpapers
11.20.08 (7:16 pm)   [edit]

I said I wasn't gonna Photoshop anything else. Well, this doesn't really count as Photoshopping, as it was just a basic copy/paste procedure.

Here are my Wall-E wallpapers for my mp3! Even if the cover is broken, that doesn't mean it can't look good as well. Laughing

You can use any of those if you have a widescreen mp3 as well, if you want.

The Headgear
11.20.08 (5:45 pm)   [edit]

I'm pretty sure anybody who goes to school with me or reads my blog knows that I have braces. I've only told a few people about the headgear, now I got it! I thought that the soreness the braces gave me [and give me currently, following the tightening] was the worst I was gonna get during my orthodontic treatment. Well, I'm wrong. The headgear hurts my back teeth only, thank God. But the hurt made my head hurt within the first five minutes of getting it on. Now as I type, my head is ringing. I could barely finish my Wall-E header, and you'll notice the lack of EVE. I was 1/8th through tracing her when I couldn't focus on the selection tool...

The headgear is this rounded metal thing that fits in my mouth and restricts the growing of my upper jaw so that my lower jaw can catch up; that's why it hurts so. My braces are expected to stay on until around 2010 to 2012, and the headgear will probably stay that time too, unless my overbite gets fixed in the first 2 years... But it's not likely.

So... Braces- Check. Headgear- Check. Bite plate apparatus- Next time.

So headers, I think, will be few and far between for the folowing days. If you want a header made, I'll get it finished by Monday at the very latest.

Wall-E
11.19.08 (7:28 pm)   [edit]

The movie is definitely made by Pixar. The beautiful, yet laughable (in a good way) themes are all present; the hero [in this case, the lovable Wall-E], the love interest [the even more lovable EVE], and a villain... Though the villain was pretty non-existent, and if it were existent, it probably was the wheel hell-bent on enforcing "Directives".

There were heartstring tugging moments, like when EVE "kisses" Wall-E and he half short circuits, drifting away into space with a robotic chuckle, and the final scene as well.

A movie as beautiful as this should get it's own header, so check back soon for my new Wall-E header.

Oh, and speaking of headers, I'm in the process of making a new one for my SpideyFan Forums. That white and blue color scheme with the ugly simple header is just too... Ugly. So check back for that as well! Find the ink to the forum at the left hand side column.

The Last Apprentice Movie!... Updated 02/04/09
11.17.08 (5:48 pm)   [edit]

I just found out that The Last Apprentice, otherwise known as The Wardstone Chronicles will be made into a movie with a 2009 release!

It's gonna be directed by Kevin Lima, the director of Enchanted.. That worries me some, seeing as how Enchanted was a horrible movie...

Other Spook news... July 2008 sees the release of the fifth title in the Spook’s series, The Spook’s Mistake. There will be a Spook’s £1 book for World Book Day next year, and the publishing programme which includes two new titles in 2009, extends into 2010.

Ok, to those that ask for updates, here we go! Directly from the Spook's Movie Blog , here is the latest stuff as they post it. This is the same entry as it was a few months ago, so that has me pretty worried. Either they stalled production or they're just lazy and forgot about the site that nobody reads. Seriously, I think my blog gets more user views than this site! And if you're one of the few readers, then you know what I'm talking about...

"Random House Children’s Books is delighted to announce that a film of The Spook’s Apprentice will be directed by Kevin Lima, who directed last year’s family blockbuster movie Enchanted.

Lima and his team hope to start work later this year on the adaptation of the book, which is about a 13-year-old boy who learns to be an exorcist from a forbidding old spook. Warner Brothers and Legendary are co-producing and co-financing along with Thunder Road. Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk is producing with Lionel Wigram and Lima’s producing partner, Chris Chase. The executive producer is Alysia Cotter.

Lionel Wigram and Basil Iwanyk comment: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Kevin Lima on board, as well as being a great film-maker, he loves the books as much as we do and has a profound understanding of how to translate them to the big screen.”

The deal was brokered by Charlotte Knight at the Rod Hall Agency in London on behalf of Random House Children’s Books in the UK.

Author, Joseph Delaney, comments: “I’m thrilled and delighted to hear that the creator of the excellent Enchanted is to direct the film adaptation of my book, The Spook’s Apprentice. It’s brilliant news!”

Great news for anyone who might have been concerned that the Spook’s Apprentice film might not live up to the scary nature of the book. It has been confirmed that the screenplay will be written by Matt Greenberg - a man who is no stranger to scary films, having written screenplays for the Stephen King film 1408 (starring John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson) and Halloween H20 (starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Josh Hartnett).

For more information about Matt Greenberg, visit his page on the IMDb."

There, hope that keeps you folks satisfied until the movie people update their blog!

A Crack In The Glass
11.17.08 (4:52 pm)   [edit]

My mp3 is the Samsung P2; it has a touchscreen and I love it very much. So you can imagine how I felt when I dropped it 3 feet from my pocket onto the cold hard cement of the parking lot... Now the touchscreen interface cover is cracked on the inside and nothing can be done to fix it. The thing works perfectly still, it's just... borken, but not broken.

I loved the way the shiny white and transparent "glass" cover reflected the light from the sun when held up... Now when I try to do that, I don't see the beautiful sleek interface, but although the same interface, with a crack that reflects the light in a twisted way... Frown

Another Header!
11.14.08 (10:22 pm)   [edit]

See, that's the problem with me whenever I get ahold of a computer with Photoshop. I just don't wanna stop!

Here's another header, you can see it at the top of the page, but here it is anyways. With about 20 days before the release of The Dark Knight Blu-Ray, I felt it was time for another Joker header. So here it is! Hope you guys take to it as warmly you did on my LBP Header!

That's prbably it from me this night, the Playstation awaits!

Another Header!
11.14.08 (4:46 pm)   [edit]

Little Big Planet is awesome. Everybody knows that. So I tried to make a Little Big Planet/Argel header!

It's kinda dogdy, but the idea is clear enough. I'll change my header into this after smoothing out the problems.

I started with the template that Sony gave us for the contest, and worked from there, adding a burlap texture and my trademark coat and my jeans. After looking at it again, I think I have to make the burlap texture smaller, because this is looking more like a peanut by than Sackboy.

And I have to add my braces as well, as well as my white shoes...

It's almost Friday!
11.13.08 (5:07 pm)   [edit]

Yay! I had an extended weekend last week, because of Remembrance Day. I was so tired after gaming for about a consecutive 24 hours and didn't feel I got enough of a weekend. So, I'm excited for Friday, tomorrow. I'll only game for about 10 or 12 hours throughout the weekend, taking a bit of a rest.

I just got Hellboy II from Blockbuster, so I'm looking forward to watching that... They still don't have Kung Fu Panda! I've been ckecking back almost everyday, and nothing.. I think the employees are hogging it...

A New Power Machine!
11.12.08 (10:20 pm)   [edit]

The few peopleat school that I tell my every disdain and stuff know what I'm talking about here, so if you're one of them, don't read further. Or read on if you can stand the inevitable gloating that will take place around the last few sentences.S

Story so far is, I had a Power Machine. A Power Machine, for those that don't know, is basically a computer pimped out with better video cards, sound cards, and the likes... Well, it broke down. I had it for over a year, and through all the Photoeditting and the music downloads, it just gave up. Think of it as the strength of a bodybuilder in the body of an old man. I started out with an outdated computer, constantly updating it to make it better, faster, kinda like a Super Soldier program for scrawny blatant computers.

It died for 2 reasons. 1) It was old and frail, like I said above; it couldn't handle my work. 2) By modding it, and modding it, making it better (System programs wise, now), it picked up a virus that I couldn't detect until it was too late. It's partly (okay, mostly!) my fault because I downloaded all sorts of crap on it, even attempting to make it into a Mac/Windows Hybrid; I thought I would get the Noble Prize for that or something, "Unity Among Enemies"...

Now I haven't used it about a month after it died, it was just painful to see it struggle to open PhotoShop and then irrevovably hang. So I've been using my parent's computer. That meant no Photoshopping, no downloading programs, but I could download music. That system worked pretty good, except for the No Photoshopping Part.

My parents bought me a computer with a 500GB Hard Drive (.5 Terabyte to you!), an upgraded video card, Windows Vista Ultimate, and it's brand spankity new. My old Power Machine was Rambo in a skeleton's body, whereas my new computer is Batman in well, Batman's body! The smaller size also helps, it's roughly about the size of a fat PS2, but a bit bulkier. It's actually meant to be a gaming computer, but I have my PS3 for games, so the increased video capabilities and other updates are just there to make you drool.

I'm in the process of selecting some speakers (Bose, preferably), because my old speakers would just make my new PC look... Crappy? Don't get me wrong, my speakers are great, with deep resonating bass, but with a computer looking and performing this great, you want something a little... Updated?

And I forgot to mention! It also came with a Logitech Bluetooth gaming keyboard as well as the Logitech Bluetooth gaming mouse. Since I like my other gaming keyboard on the other Power Machine, I think I'll pair these with the PS3 before I get the Keypad for Christmas.

I think that's enough gloating without sounding too gloaty assed....

I'm gonna give my old Power Machine the farewell it deserves, stuffed into my closet to be Frankensteined later for parts... I wanna bury it, but that seems like a waste of money, time, and a computer barely clinging to life.

Viva La Power Machine!

Metal Gear Solid 4 Demo
11.07.08 (9:13 pm)   [edit]

Well, Sony, WTF?! It's about time! The game released about a month ago, and the demo is released just now?

That aside, I'll finally be able to play the game without buying it or renting it... I've been hearing good things but don't wanna shell out more money on a game that I have no hope in hell of completing.

Holy Crap, Rambo!
11.07.08 (8:34 pm)   [edit]

I was just watching Rambo again after watching Iron Man and... Wow. Iron Man's face burning flamethrower is nothing compared to Rambo's throat pulling scene...

Shows you rapists... Try to rape one of Rambo's friends, get your throat pulled out by a huge guy with a machete...

I would love to see Rambo fight The Punisher. Having no access to PhotoShop as of this time, I made up this short story in the fashion of the EGM [or Gamepro] Versus matches...

Rambo, behind the flaming car tosses his grenade blindly at the Punisher. Having been stabbed in the eye, his judgement is a bit impaired and the grenade went off to hit a civilian... Hearing the satisfying BOOM, with the scatter of flesh and bone, he thinks the Punisher is dead. He's wrong. Punisher was right beside him when he went to check the blast radius of the grenade and when he turns his head, Frank rips it off, "Welcome Back Frank" style. Take that, Ma Gnucci... Laughing

That story reminded me... How I would also love to see Hulk face off against Superman... Next time...

Playstation 3 Firmware Update 2.52
11.07.08 (8:23 pm)   [edit]

There's basically nothing new with 2.52... It's just improved text entry when using a USB keyboard, or other means of typing using the in-system keyboard or an external set, eg; the Bluetooth keypad.

Speaking about the Bluetooth keypad, a price has been set! It's $49.99 at Blockbuster, so it must be at least a buck cheaper at Best Buy, because, as we all know, Blockbuster sells things for more than their suggested retail price... A stinkin' Blu-Ray for $35.99?! That's just retarded.

Ok, that's it for my blog for this hour... I'm gonna go play some Burnout, Endwar, and maybe even a little lego Batman. Laughing

Obama vs. McCain
11.04.08 (6:46 pm)   [edit]

It's that time again... A time when Americans choose another unlucky schmuck to be President! I'm a Canadian, so I don't really care, but I figured it was important to you American people so here I am. I'm not trying to badmouth your chosen candidates, but here is my opinion. Like my music post, you guys may have opinions that differ, so be understanding that these are my opinions and I'll try not to make it too harsh.

Both of the candidates make promising... Promises. Obama promises health care reorganizations, fixing the broken economy, more jobs for the people, and the end of the war in Iraq. Good promises, but question is, can he keep them?

McCain vows to fight religious persecution, child pornography, human trafficking and other "evils" if he gets elected. McCain sounds like a modern day Batman, appearing to focus more on crime fighting than actually making America a better place. Not that ridding America of criminal offenses won't do it's fair share, but don't you think by actually making people happier there will be reduced crime?

Both of them promise change, and the voters seem ready to believe them. That's a lot of pressure on the winning party, if they can't keep up with their ambitious promises. If it happens to Obama, it will most likely mean that he will be the first and last black president. If it happens to McCain, then it'll blow over like sand on a beach. People will just say that he is just another George Bush. There is also a lot of pressure on the losing side if the winning party fails to rise up on their promises. They will have to step in at the next election, with more material like "[Put Party Here] failed to give you jobs and better health care!..."..

Do you remember what happened to George Bush? He's an idiot, that's what happened. And he got into the White House by? Yep, you got it. Capturing the votes of the people. Let's just hope that it doesn't happen to the victor of this Politically Burning bout. And if he does screw up, will you be one of the people who fully supported him, now saying that he's a complete idiot who shouldn't have made into the White House? I'm sure there are quite a few of you out there for George Bush...

I just have a question to ask you people. If you're voting for Obama, are you doing so because of the promises he made, or are you voting to make history [of the first Black president]? Just think about what I said before. If Obama screws this up, there's a looming possibility that he will be the last Black president in the coming future.

That's their promises, and  I'm sure you can detect which side I'm leaning towards. Now the question is to you, my few American readers. Who will you vote for?

The Dark Knight Blu-Ray
11.01.08 (6:47 pm)   [edit]

Ah, I'm so forgetful these days... I found out a week ago the release date for The Dark Knight DVD/Blu-Ray. You probably have as well, with your Blockbusters and video stores allowing you to predorder roughly 40 days before release.

So it comes out on Dec. 9! The boxed set will include a replica of the Batpod and it'll hopefully be better than the statue Best Buy gave us for the Iron Man box set.. That statue was lame!

Go preorder it! I'm not gonna myself, since I think preordering is stupid, but you might wanna... It's not like Best Buy will run out of copies. If they do, I'm gonna burn that place down and go the other Best Buy...

Remember! Dec. 9... Take the day off work or skip school or something. It's not like you're gonna get fired or expelled if your excuse is "I was watching Batman to get an idea of the perfect samaritan, and to make myself a better person"... If they do fire you, I'm sorry. Laughing

A Trip To the Dentist Again...
11.01.08 (9:56 am)   [edit]
I woke up early in the morning to a loud cracking noise... It was exactly what I'd hoped not to see, one of my brackets snapped off on the lower jaw. They'll have to remove the wire, then re-bond the bracket. This'll take anywhere from 10-15 minutes... And up to a month of extended treatment-An extra month for something completely not my fault. Braces are fine, but I feel as if I'm getting prosecuted for turning my headphones too loud. I should stop being pessimistic and remember that it's not my fault...
