The Watchmen...
03.09.09 (10:04 pm)   [edit]

Yes, I was grounded. I was grounded for a whole week, so I missed the new episode of Lie To Me and my friends on the Playstation Network on Friday.
I also missed the Watchmen, as I was supposed to watch it on opening day with the costumed fanatics sweating off a third of their 300 pounds in a Nite-Owl suit or the odd transsexual in the Silk Spectre spandex and the beard.
Yes, I missed all the things that make opening night so much fun to go to, and when I go see it on Friday, I'll probably be stuck with the parents who finally agreed reluctantly to bring their kids to see a thug's face get smashed in by a psychologically unstable vigilante and a blue guy's dick. Oh, and explosions. Lots and lots of glorious explosions.
[By the way, that isn't the actor's junk, he wore shorts and they superimposed a blue radioactive donk on him.]

I'm not gonna get too deep in the philosophical questions surrounding this movie, it's characters, and the Watchmen premise altogether, but I will as soon as I read the book and watch the movie, probably not in that order.
Besides, you can probably find those philosophical ramblings from certified ramblers on Google.

So I'm gonna see it Friday. It sure as hell won't be The Dark Knight, but I'm hoping that it can touch on even a little of The Dark Knight's awesomeness, after all, the trailers looked awfully kickass.
Then again, the TV spots and trailers for War with Jet Li and Jason Statham also made the movie look good... 10 bucks later, I'm there pissed off.

Sorry to hear about you being grounded, what did you do?
I have heard some conflicting things about watchmen so anxious to hear your take on it.

We accidentally broke a door at school... It was the worst week of my life! No TV, No internet, no Playstation, not even my mp3. All I had to keep me entertained was my sketchbook and I got about 15 new drawings over the course of 6 days.
